Da Real Story Behind Da Band
Thanks
for your interest in the Johnny Ripoff Band.

The band consists of five people. Johnny (Ripoff) Meyer,
Bill Osincup, Paul Dorney, Duane Osborn and Wendy Davison.
John and Bill are the co-founders of the band. Both were involved
with a variety of groups from the early 60's to the mid-70's.
During the summer of 1995, they both hooked up for a company party
and after a long absence from playing, decided to start up another
band. Paul Dorney, who was a bassman for a local blue grass combo
joined shortly thereafter. By coincidence, Paul's neighbor, Matt
Simpson was drumming off and on for a couple of rock groups and
was asked to join the band.
About a year later, the band found Wendy through a mutual friend
who frequented Karaoke bars.
All of the band members live in Lake Oswego, Oregon except for
Bill who lives in the Seattle, Washington area. Three have full
time jobs out of the music field. Wendy is a stay at home mom
and Johnny is retired from a local college bookstore.

During the fall of 1995, the Johnny Ripoff Band played for all
of the Portland State Football tailgate parties. This was great
exposure and before long, they were doing weekend gigs at several
local bars. Duane Osborn took over as drummer in 2005, a very
experienced and very talented addition. The Johnny Ripoff Band
is very well rounded too.
They play primarily classic rock & roll covering such artists
as The Rolling Stones, The Ventures, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John
Hiatt and Susan Tedeschi. They also mix in some blues, country
rock and an occasional top 20. The band is noted for attracting
good dance crowds and banging out a lot of songs per set.
